
Clark Bunting
Clark Bunting is a visionary media executive and content strategist who brings over three decades of leadership experience to Veterans Media Corporation (VMC). Renowned for his ability to blend compelling storytelling with commercial success, Bunting’s career is defined by his pivotal role in shaping the global non-fiction media landscape.
Clark is a veteran of U.S.-based factual content production, centered on a long and storied 25 years with Discovery Communications Inc. From its earliest days, he was a key architect of the company’s global dominance, now reaching over 100 million subscribers in the United States.
His earlier roles at Discovery Communications span key leadership positions across channel management, production, production enterprise, and program acquisition, for which Clark also oversaw key programming and managed on-air talent. Career milestones with Discovery featured a leadership role as President & GM of Discovery Channel and President of Discovery Studios.
Bunting founded and launched Animal Planet, turning it into a global powerhouse, and led a portfolio of emerging networks including Investigation Discovery, Science Channel, HD Theatre, Discovery Health, Planet Green, and Military Channel.
Under his watch, some of Discovery Network’s most memorable and critically-acclaimed series were launched, including Shark Week, Deadliest Catch, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Gold Rush, American Chopper, the Crocodile Hunter series, Emergency Vets, and the epic miniseries Life and Frozen Planet, among many other titles. The deep programming portfolio created by talented producers under his network leadership has received 25 Emmy Awards, numerous Dupont and Peabody Awards, and an Oscar nomination.
With more than three decades as a senior leader in media and entertainment and championing environmental and conservation causes, Clark has successfully developed and managed comprehensive strategies for quality branded enterprises, incubating business units, and cultivating talent.
In July 2017, Bunting launched media company, Digital Circus, with partner David Wheeler. The new strategic content and partnership company leverages their shared expertise in media development and production, game development, consulting, branding, design, and digital planning. Digital Circus currently has several new development and production projects underway with partners including Discovery Channel and Vulcan Productions, among several others.
Clark earned an MA in Communications and a BA in Advertising from Michigan State University. He is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival and holds an honorary doctorate from Michigan State University.
